Tehelka has just come out with their cover story on Dr. Binayak Sen, written by Shoma Chaudhury. Along with Saikat Datta's December 24 report on the Supreme Court's refusal of his bail in Outlook India, it is the most powerful, analytic and fact-rich of recent stories about him. The article was based partly on interviews with Dr. Sen at the time of his last court appearance on February 2, shortly before we visited him (see last post). A small but significant elision is in its account of what happened in court on the day, details of which have been provided by Dr. Ilina Sen's letter quoted in my previous post.
Also included in the story is a detailed listing of the charges against Dr. Sen, together with comments on the main charges.
Behold the future of Indian "democracy"!
