I thought I would vent a bit about the stupid and disgusting remark of the Iranian president Mahmud Ahmedinejad that Israel should be "wiped off the map". Immaculate timing, Mahmud old boy! Couldn't have chosen a better method and time to piss everyone off. But of course, all this shock and awe at the horrible Iranians, and Blair's not so veiled
threat delivered in language that diplomatically is almost as offensive as Ahmedinejad's, is likely to distract attention from similar threats made by the oh so moral and civilized Western leaders and columnists, without so much as a squeak from the Great and the Good. Here are a few examples:
1. Tom Friedman's laptop terrorism
2. Dov Weisglas suggesting in effect that Palestine should be wiped off the map
3. And now we even have Condo Lies 'R' Us admitting that the real reason for the war on Iraq was "changing the nature of the Middle East...to go after the root cause of what caused September 11.... So what I'm describing to you, Senator, is not what you voted for in the war resolution, but the broader strategy of the administration." Translation: "We lied about the reasons we went to war, and what we really want is to wipe Iraq off the map - a goal that, with sufficient provocation and covert action playing off Kurds, Shias and Sunnis against each other, may still be within our reach."
In contrast to the Iranian President's THREAT, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and Blair ACTUALLY DESTROYED a country's infrastructure through bombing and a military attack, then sanctions, then more bombing, and then war and occupation, all based on a thick carpet of lies, resulting in the death of more than a million people since 1991 till date. (No references necessary by now, except for children and the irredeemably ignorant). The irony of the Saddam Hussein trial is that the people responsible for aiding
his crimes are not only guilty of worse, but they are now his accusers!
